      Naropa MFA Theatre presents Consent

The 2nd Year MFA Theater and Contemporary performance cohort culminates their time at Naropa University with a project that explores the meaning of Consent, and how it arises within our interpersonal relationships and greater culture. In a time when history continues to repeat itself, the performance is grounded in a deconstruction of the Supreme Court Nomination hearings of 1991 and 2018 and examines the similarities and differences between both. The cast takes on the roles of Anita Hill, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh, taking the audience on a journey through time and the complexity of social and cultural power dynamics. This piece, devised under the mentorship of Leigh Fondakowski and Wendell Beavers, utilizes Moment Work and Viewpoints techniques while also playing with sound, light, and levels of visibility. The ensemble uses what they have learned during their time at Naropa University to construct a story that mindfully revolves around seeing things as they truly are. 4.18: 7:30 pm4.19: 7:30 pm4.20: 2:00 pm / 7:30 pm PLEASE NOTE:  Latecomers will not be admitted, so please plan your arrival accordingly.
