HOVAB Exhibition: MURMURATIONS: Wingèd Beings Sacred & Profane

Gallery Open and Free to the Public - June 7-September 30

MURMURATIONS: Wingèd Beings Sacred & Profane explores the magnificence of birds and their mystical descendants from angels to airplanes, showcasing forty (40) renowned artists and curated by Jennifer Heath.

The exhibition features images of eagles, cranes, storks, cormorants, ravens, blue herons, toucans, magpies, geese, chickadees and more, some in flight, some posing as if for official portraits, some as messengers, some triumphant, some numinous, some in distress.

Birds have inspired human imagination. Birds are alchemical. Birds are shapeshifters, for we have transformed them into all sorts of marvelous and fantastic creatures necessary for our creative and spiritual well beings. The exhibit aims to be as broad, theatrical and celebratory as possible, as the artists vividly express some of the many ways birds have enriched human life and story.
